I’m Gena, founder and formulator of Salida Sunshine Botanicals.

My work began with my own journey with sensitive, reactive skin and a deep frustration with products that promised “natural” but left my skin irritated or out of balance. Living in the high, dry Colorado mountains only amplified that challenge — my skin needed gentleness, nourishment, and real support, not trends or harsh solutions.

I’m a Western herbalist and longtime apothecary owner, with over two decades of experience working with medicinal plants to support both skin and overall well-being. My background includes extensive training in Western herbalism, along with studies in Ayurveda, and years of hands-on practice crafting remedies for real people with real needs.

What I’ve learned over the years is simple: the skin is intelligent. It doesn’t need to be forced or fixed — it needs to be listened to, supported, and cared for with patience and respect.
