Confession Time: I Was Skeptical About Double Cleansing

Confession Time: I Was Skeptical About Double Cleansing

Okay, I have to admit, I’ve heard about double cleansing for years — and honestly? I brushed it off. I thought, if a cleanser is good, why would I need two? It felt like just another upsell in an already overloaded skincare world. And if you know me, you know that’s not my style.

My philosophy has always been: less is best. Keep it simple. Let the plants do their work.

But then something happened.

One evening — after a long day outside, with layers of sunscreen reapplied  — I cleansed my face with my Soothing Creamy Cleanser. It felt lovely, and yes, it even took off my mascara with ease. But something in me wanted just a little more. My skin still felt like it had been through the day.

So I followed it up with my Nourishing Oil Cleanser — I massaged it in, slowly, then used a warm, damp cloth to steam and gently wipe it away. (Side note: creamy cleansers just rinse off with water. Oil cleansers, on the other hand, need a warm cloth and a little intention — it’s part of the ritual.)

And… wow.
I was hooked.

My skin felt deeply clean, but not tight. Hydrated, but not heavy. Like it could breathe again.

What is Double Cleansing, Really?

It’s not about using more. It’s about using two different kinds of cleansers, each serving a unique purpose:

  • Creamy Cleanser First: Gently lifts surface debris, makeup, and sunscreen. Splash off with water.

  • Oil Cleanser Second: Melts deeper buildup from pores, balances oil production, and leaves the skin soft and replenished. Wipe away with a warm, steamy cloth.

Together, they create a ritual that’s both effective and soothing. Especially on days when your skin has weathered the elements, like mine did that day.

So if you’ve ever been skeptical like I was… I get it.
But sometimes a second step isn’t extra — it’s exactly what your skin needs.

With warmth,
