Summer Skincare Rituals

Simple, Intentional Care for the Season of Light

In summer, our skincare tends to be a little lighter — not as many layers, not as much time — yet still deeply intentional. The warmth and brightness of the season call for rituals that feel uplifting, cooling, and refreshing while still offering that deep nourishment our skin craves.

Here are a few of my favorite summer rituals to keep your skin — and spirit — feeling its best.

1. Create Your Sacred Space

Even in summer, when life feels a little faster, taking a moment to prepare your space changes everything. Light a candle, set out your favorite products, and keep your area uncluttered. Whether it’s a corner of your bathroom or a tray you carry with you, let it feel like your place of beauty, peace, and care.

2. Face Massage

On warm summer evenings, a gentle face massage is a cooling, calming way to release tension and bring a natural glow. Use upward and outward strokes with your favorite facial oil or serum. This not only nourishes the skin but also stimulates circulation and gives you a moment to slow down.

3. Self-Abhyanga (Summer Style)

While traditional self-Abhyanga begins with warming your oil, in summer I love a quicker, lighter version. After your shower or bath, pump a little body oil into your palms, rub them together, inhale the scent, and begin massaging in upward, heart-directed strokes. It’s enough to nourish the skin, calm the mind, and leave you feeling renewed without feeling heavy.

4. Spritz with Hydrosols

Hydrosols are pure plant waters — light, cooling, and oh-so-refreshing in the summer heat. Keep one in the fridge for an extra burst of coolness, and mist your face, neck, or arms anytime you need a quick reset. They tone, soothe, and give your skin a subtle plant-powered glow.

5. Double Cleanse (My Way)

Sweat, sunscreen, and summer adventures can leave quite a bit behind on the skin.
At the end of the day, I love doing a gentle double cleanse — my way.

Instead of starting with an oil, I begin with a creamy cleanser to whisk away that first layer of sunscreen, makeup, and surface impurities. Then, I follow with a nourishing oil or balm cleanser to melt away anything lingering deep in the pores while feeding my skin with plant-based goodness.

It leaves my face feeling not just clean, but soft, balanced, and refreshed — the perfect reset after a sun-filled day.

The Beauty of Keeping it Simple

These summer rituals aren’t about adding more steps — they’re about bringing intention, care, and a touch of cooling refreshment to your skin and your day. Even a few minutes can feel like a deep breath for body, mind, and spirit.
